Day 1: VancouverLimousine transfer from the airport to downtown Vancouver. The largest city in Western Canada with a population of 2.2 Mio people is named after Captain George Vancouver - a British explorer. The city developed rapidly from a small lumber mill town in 1860s to the busiest sea port in Canada. Today the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver is consistently ranked one of the three most livable cities in the world. in 2010 Vancouver and Whistler are the host of the Olympic Winter Games. Sights include: Stanley Park, English Bay, the Granville Island Market, Chinatown, Science World, the Sea Aquarium, Grouse Mountain, Gastown, Capilano Suspension Bridge and the Museum of Anthropology among others. Vancouver’s many surrounding beaches are perfect for a relaxing day in the sun. Overnight: Vancouver Renaissance Harbourside Hotel (or similar) Day 3: Vancouver - WhistlerMorning transfer around 07:45 from your hotel to the rail station in North Vancouver. You travel onboard the Whistler Mountaineer to the four-season resort of Whistler. It is a breathtaking rail tour through the stunning scenery of the “Sea-to-Sky” country region with spectacular views. The Howe Sound is North America's southernmost fjord, located northwest of Vancouver and extending from West Vancouver north to Squamish. Surrounded by towering peaks that rise straight out of the sea, Howe Sound is Vancouver's playground for sailing, diving, camping and hiking activities. Highlights of the tour include: Shannon Falls, Mount Garibaldi and impressive Cheakamus Canyon. Whistler is a very attractive summer recreational resort located between the two peaks of the Whistler - and Blackcomb Mountain and provides a wide range of activities. Its yours to enjoy. Overnight: Delta Whistler Village Suites (or similar) Departure Vancouver: 08:30 Arrival Whistler: 11:30 Day 4: Whistler - QuesnelTransfer from the hotel to the rail station. Today’s journey continues as you travel from the four-season resort town of Whistler through the magnificent Coast Mountains to Quesnel. Enjoy a breathtaking and varied scenery, from the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon to the rolling hills and vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau to the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley. Scenic highlights include: many sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon, the crossing of the Deep Creek Bridge - one of the highest railway bridges in the world and the beautiful shorelines of glacial-fed Seton Lake and Anderson Lake. The rail tour journey ends today in Quesnel. Motorcoach transfer to the hotel. Remaining evening at leisure. Overnight: Best Western Hotel (or similar) Departure Whistler: 07:10 / Arrival Quesnel: 19:30 Day 5: Quesnel - JasperTravel onboard the famous Rocky Mountaineer from the charming rural town of Quesnel - gateway to the Northern Cariboo District to the world-class mountain resort of Jasper within the Canadian Rockies. Quesnel grew up as the commercial centre during the 1861’s gold rush and landing for sternwheelers cruising on the Fraser River. If you arrive in July don’t miss the historic Billy Barker Days celebrating the cities heritage and first gold miner. Your journey begins as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the Fraser River and passes through the town of Prince George. Continue through the Rocky Mountain Trench, with the steep Rocky and Cariboo Mountains either side, and on to the rolling hills and vast forests of British Columbia’s northern interior. Highlights include Mount Robson, the highest peak within the Canadian Rockies, Yellowhead Pass and Moose Lake. Overnight Marmot Lodge Jasper (or similar). Departure Quesnel: 07:10 / Arrival Jasper: 20:30 Day 6: Jasper - KamloopsTransfer to the railroad station. You are leaving the world-class destination resort of Jasper for an exciting rail tour to Kamloops. Sights include: Continental Divide, Yellowhead Pass, the Monashee & Cariboo Mountain Ranges, Pyramid Falls, Mount Robson - with 3945 meter the highest peak within the Canadian Rockies Mountains - and the North Thompson River area. You’ll be surrounded for most of the journey by a dramatic and breathtaking mountain scenery. Upon arrival in Kamloops, motorcoach transfer from the rail station to a local ***/**** hotel for the overnight. Evening entertainment recommendation: Enjoy the “Maple Leaf” Musical and Dinner Show, an interactive hour-long upbeat journey about a group of Canadian singers. The Songs featured are from Paul Anka, Jori Mitchell, Shania Twain and Gordon Lightfood. Advance reservation is highly recommended. Breakfast and lunch are served today onboard the train. Departure Jasper: 07:45 / Arrival Kamloops:16:10 Day 7: Kamloops - VancouverKamloops is the gateway to the interior of British Columbia and characterized by hot summers, snow-filled winters, literally thousands of lakes, spectacular landscapes, large cattle ranches and endless blue skies. The rail journey continuos through the scenic Fraser Canyon with it’s “Hells Gate” and along the Thompson River. In the nineteenth century, steamboats plied the waters between Georgia Strait and Yale were the Fraser River emerges at sea level. and were especially busy during the gold rush of the 1850s and 1860s. Boats continued to provide a vital link in the valley as the gold rush tapered off and Europeans began farming. Hells Gate is the narrowest point of the Fraser River. At high water level almost 220 million gallons of water are running with a speed of 30 km through the 33 meter wide gorge. The area is also known for one of the largest sockeye salmon runs in the world.Arrive at the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver on the Pacific Ocean. Optional program extensions are available.
