You travel onboard the Whistler Mountaineer to the four-season resort of Whistler. It’s a breathtaking rail tour through the stunning scenery of the “Sea-to-Sky” country region with spectacular views. The Howe Sound is North America's southernmost fjord, located northwest of Vancouver and extending from West Vancouver north to Squamish. Surrounded by towering peaks that rise straight out of the sea, Howe Sound is Vancouver's playground for sailing, diving, camping and hiking activities. Highlights of the tour include: Shannon Falls, Mount Garibaldi and impressive Cheakamus Canyon. Whistler is a very attractive summer recreational resort located between the two peaks of the Whistler - and Blackcomb Mountain and provides a wide range of activities. Its yours to enjoy. Today’s journey continues as you travel from the four-season resort town of Whistler through the magnificent Coast Mountains to Quesnel. Enjoy a breathtaking and varied scenery, from the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon to the rolling hills and vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau to the river canyons and lush farmland of the Pemberton Valley. Scenic highlights include: many sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon, the crossing of Deep Creek Bridge - one of the highest railway bridges in the world and the beautiful shorelines of glacial-fed Seton Lake and Anderson Lake. Quesnel grew up as the commercial centre during the 1861’s gold rush and landing for sternwheelers cruising on the Fraser River. If you arrive in July don’t miss the historic Billy Barker Days celebrating the cities heritage and first gold miner. Your journey begins as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the Fraser River and passes through the town of Prince George. Continue through the Rocky Mountain Trench, with the steep Rocky and Cariboo Mountains either side, and on to the rolling hills and vast forests of British Columbia’s northern interior.
