Sights include: Stanley Park, English Bay, the Granville Island Market, Chinatown, Science World, the Aquarium and the Museum of Anthropology among others. Vancouver’s many surrounding beaches are perfect for a relaxing day in the sun. Day 2: Vancouver - KamloopsTravel through the scenic Fraser Canyon with it’s “Hells Gate” and along the Thompson River. In the nineteenth century, steamboats plied the waters between Georgia Strait and Yale were the Fraser River emerges at sea level. and were especially busy during the gold rush of the 1850s and 1860s. Boats continued to provide a vital link in the valley as the gold rush tapered off and Europeans began farming. Hells Gate is the narrowest point of the Fraser River. At high water level almost 220 million gallons of water are running with a speed of 30 km through the 33 meter wide gorge. The area is also known for one of the largest sockeye salmon runs in the world. Kamloops is the gateway to the interior of British Columbia and characterized by hot summers, snow-filled winters, literally thousands of lakes, spectacular landscapes, large ranches and endless blue skies. Day 3: Kamloops - BanffTraveling by rail provides a unique prospective of the spectacular mountain scenery within the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Day 4: BanffBanff National Park is Canada’s first national park and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At 1463 meters (4800 ft) it is the town with the highest elevation in Canada. Day 5: Lake LouiseEnjoy a half-day tour into Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. In 1984 the park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sights include: the Natural Bridge, Emerald Lake, the Spiral Tunnel, Burgess Shale, Takakkaw Falls, Wapta Falls and Kicking Horse River. Yoho National Park represents the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains region, and is also a native Cree expression of awe and wonder for this place of rock walls, spectacular waterfalls and soaring peaks. In the shadow of the Great Divide, the park holds the secrets of ancient ocean life, the power of ice and water, and unique plant and animal communities that continue to evolve today. Day 6: Lake LouiseEnjoy a half-day tour into beautiful Yoho National Park to view some of its natural wonders. In 1984 the park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Yoho National Park represents the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains region, and is also a native Cree expression of awe and wonder for this place of rock walls, spectacular waterfalls and soaring peaks. In the shadow of the Great Divide, the park holds the secrets of ancient ocean life, the power of ice and water, and unique plant and animal communities that continue to evolve today. One hour guided shore and interpretive stroll at Lake Louise. The emerald colour of the water comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciers that overlook the lake. Day 7: Lake Louise - JasperThe itineray today includes a sightseeing tour of the Banff and Jasper National Parks via the famous Icefield Parkway. Stretching for 230 kilometers, the parkway offers easy access to one of the most spectacular mountain landscape on earth. This is a world-class journey through the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Among the highlights of the tour are: Bow Lake, Peyto Lake, the magnificient 325 square kilometers large Columbia Icefield and the Athabasca Falls. The Columbia Icefield is one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. It is also a true "hydrological apex," for its meltwater feeds streams and rivers that pour into the Arctic, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans. Here you will ride on the Ice Explorer coaches to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn more about its geological features. Day 11: Arrival TorontoToronto is located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario. With over 2.5 million residents, it is the fifth most populous municipality in North America. Toronto is part of a densely populated region in Southern Ontario known as the Golden Horseshoe, which is home to 8.1 million residents and has approximately 25% of Canada's population. Time to explore the city: visit the second largest Chinatown in North America, the third largest theater center in the world, the numerous cultural and historical attractions like Casa Loma and Fort York along with world-class museums such as the Royal Ontario Museum. Day 12: Toronto - Niagara Falls – TorontoAt 10:00 travel on our first-class, washroom-equipped motor coach for a breathtaking full-day tour through the orchard-laden Niagara Peninsula to Niagara Falls - one of the great natural wonders of the world. You will enjoy a panoramic view of the Falls during your sumptuous buffet lunch at the Penthouse Restaurant Dining Room. Then it’s off to the Maid of the Mist*, for an exhilarating boat ride to the base of the majestic Horseshoe Falls. In the afternoon, there will be ample time for souvenir shopping at the Table Rock Complex. We also stop at the observation deck of the mighty Whirlpool and Rapids and visit the Floral Clock. Day 13: Toronto – MontrealBreakfast onboard the train. Morning arrival in Montreal - the second-largest primarily French-speaking city in the world, after Paris. Remaining day at leisure. The city covers most of the Island of Montreal at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence and Ottawa Rivers. The port of Montreal lies at one end of the Saint Lawrence Seaway, which is the river gateway that stretches from the Great Lakes into the Atlantic Ocean. Montreal is defined by its location in between the St. Lawrence river on its south, and by the Rivière des Prairies on its north. The city is named after the most prominent geographical feature on the island, a three-head hill called “Mount Royal”, topped at 232 m above sea level. Impressive in size and shape and topped by the tallest inclined tower in the world. Mount Royal Park - The scenic lookout offers a striking view of the downtown area and the river. St-Joseph's Oratory - Atop of Mount-Royal, it is one of the world's most visited shrines. The basilica's huge dome reaches 97 meters and is second only in height to Saint-Peter's basilica in Rome.
