Day 1: Calgary - BanffLimousine transfer (126 Km) from Calgary to Banff. At 1463 meters, Banff is the town with the highest elevation in Canada and a very popular year-around tourism destination. In 1985, the United Nations declared Banff National Park as a World Heritage Site. Interesting sights include: Lake Minnewauka, the Upper Hot Springs, Mount Norquay and Sulphur Mountain (Gondola) and the Whyte Museum, The entire Banff National Park is an outdoor adventures paradise and provides more than 1500 km of well maintained hiking and mountain bike trails, canoe trips, rafting and horseback riding opportunities. A variety of sightseeing options are available if you choose to explore the surroundings. Our attraction passport includes free gondola admission and access to the Upper Hot Springs Pools. Overnight: High Country Inn Hotel Banff (or similar) Day 2: Banff Morning: 4-hour sightseeing tour to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Your journey starts with a scenic drive to the Vermillion Lakes with it’s spectacular mountain scenery and continuos along the scenic Bow Valley Parkway. Keep an eye out for elk, bears, and coyotes along the road. Upon arrival at Lake Louise enjoy the reflection of the Victoria Glacier in the glacial fed waters. Be sure to take a few pictures of the famous Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Hotel during your 30-minute stopover before you continue to Moraine Lake with the Valley of the 10 Peaks. Return to Banff. Afternoon at leisure and to explore the many sights of Banff. Evening: you’ll be treated to a food and wine pairing experience at the Fairmont Banff Springs Resort - a deluxe landmark hotel - styled like a Scottish Castle. Here you have the opportunity to sit back and enjoy extraordinary wines from Canada paired with food that complements the wine flavor. Overnight: High Country Inn Hotel Banff (or similar) Day 3: Banff - KamloopsTraveling by rail provides a unique prospective of the spectacular mountain scenery within the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Large panoramic picture windows are offering unobstructed viewing and excellent photo opportunities. Knowledgeable onboard attendants are sharing many area background information with it’s passengers. Today’s scenic highlights of your railtour journey include: the unique Spiral Tunnels near Yoho National Park, the climb over the 1382 m Rogers Pass within Glacier National Park, the Continental Divide, Kicking Horse Canyon, many snowcapped peaks of the magnificent Rocky Mountains and the vast ranchlands and lakes of British Columbias Interior around Kamloops. Upon arrival in Kamloops, transfer to a local hotel and overnight. Evening entertainment tip: enjoy the “Maple Leaf” Musical & Dinner show, an interactive hour-long journey featuring songs from Paul Anka, Shania Twain and Gordon Lightfood. Departure Banff: 08:20 / Arrival Kamloops:19:20 Day 4: Kamloops - VancouverKamloops is the gateway to the interior of British Columbia and characterized by hot summers, snow-filled winters, literally thousands of lakes, spectacular landscapes, large cattle ranches and endless blue skies. The rail journey continuos through the scenic Fraser Canyon with it’s “Hells Gate” and along the Thompson River. In the nineteenth century, steamboats plied the waters between Georgia Strait and Yale were the Fraser River emerges at sea level. and were especially busy during the gold rush of the 1850s and 1860s. Boats continued to provide a vital link in the valley as the gold rush tapered off and Europeans began farming. Hells Gate is the narrowest point of the Fraser River. At high water level almost 220 million gallons of water are running with a speed of 30 km through the 33 meter wide gorge. The area is also known for one of the largest sockeye salmon runs in the world. The journey ends at the cosmopolitan city of Vancouver on the Pacific Ocean. Overnight: Vancouver Renaissance Harbourside Hotel (or similar) Departure Kamloops: 07:30 / Arrival Vancouver: 17:35 Day 5: VancouverVancouver, the largest city in Western Canada with a population of 2.2 Mio people is named after Captain George Vancouver - a British explorer. The city developed rapidly from a small lumber mill town in 1860s to the busiest sea port in Canada. Today cosmopolitan Vancouver is consistently ranked one of the three most livable cities in the world. in 2010 Vancouver and Whistler are the host of the Olympic Winter Games. Sights include: Stanley Park, English Bay, Granville Island Market, Chinatown, Science World, Aquarium and the Museum of Anthropology among others. Vancouver’s many surrounding beaches are perfect for a relaxing day in the sun. Evening: experience the exclusive food and wine adventure hosted in the show kitchen at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s 900 West Lounge. Enjoy a tasting menu that provides unique wine pairings with each course and learn as the chefs discuss the food and wine with you while they prepare your dinner. Overnight: Renaissance Harbourside Hotel (or similar) Day 6: Vancouver - VictoriaDepart for Victoria - British Columbia’s capital city - by motorcoach and ferry. The very scenic sailing onboard the BC Ferry through the Gulf Islands from Tsawassen to Swartz Bay takes about 90-minutes. Short transfer to downtown Victoria. Established in 1843 by James Douglas, Victoria served a fort for the famous Hudson Bay Company. The city is now the cosmopolitan centre of Vancouver Island with a lively entertainment scene. Time to explore Victoria onboard one of the red double-decker sightseeing busses. You’ll visit the many historical heritage buildings, flower gardens and the Royal BC Museum (admission included). A breathtaking scenery is guaranteed where ever you are. Afternoon: indulge in a traditional Afternoon Tea ceremony at the Fairmont Empress - a deluxe landmark hotel located across from the Inner Harbor. Enjoy a variety of gourmet sandwiches, special tea blends and freshly baked raisin scones served with clotted cream and strawberry preserves. Overnight: Victoria Executive House Hotel (or similar) Day 7: VictoriaA full day escorted gastronomy tour of the breathtaking Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island. You’ll tour a local winery, a cidery and the Davali Lavender Farm - a Provence-style farm were you can walk amidst rows of lavender and purchase natural body care products and culinary treads. The tour includes also a three course gourmet lunch with wine pairings. The Cowichan Valley features fertile valleys, rolling hills and pristine lakes. The region is well known for it’s distinct character and increasingly recognized internationally for the charming communities. Return to Victoria during the late afternoon. Evening tip: The Butchard Gardens are offering 22 ha (55 acres) of wonderful floral displays. At night the gardens become a magical glow and they turn into a breathtaking wonderland of lights. The concert lawn stage comes alive with a variety of performing artists. Sit on a bench, enjoy a open air dinner and listen to the marvelous music. The Butchard Gardens are open until 22:00 hours and are easy to reach either by bus or taxi from downtown Victoria. Overnight: Victoria Executive House Hotel (or similar) Day 8: Victoria - VancouverFloatplane flight from the Victoria Inner Harbor to Vancouver. Enjoy a breathtaking birds eye view of spectacular mountain scenery and islands of the Pacific Northwest. Upon arrival in Vancouver the exciting tour package ends.
